Dalvay Sunset

It was a mild evening in late August. I was at the beach for a short visit while the family was at a Richard Wood show my daughter was dancing in. I had already caught the amazing performance on a previous evening so I took the opportunity to drive up to Dalvay.

The breeze was gentle and the water was calm. I had spent the past hour taking photos of the bluffs when I came to this beautiful scene.

These mini dunes, catching the sun’s light as it enveloped Stanhope and shone over the misty inlet leading into Long Pond, were irresistible.

The eroding bluffs and the trees atop them, all in various states of slow (and sometimes not so slow) disruption, provide a poignant reminder that this beautiful place is not always so peaceful.
