Silver Moment

I took a pleasant evening drive to the North Cape in early September to see what I could see and  hopefully capture some good photos.

As I made my way down the western shore, I came upon this formation. Its captivating arches and delicate tip became the focal point of many of my photos on this trip.

This picture leans more surreal than most of my work. The silvery sky draws heavily on the washed out skies I captured in the longer 1.6s and 5s exposures (originally taken to capture details in the darker rocks).

I know this particular formation was likely created within my lifetime and I’m sure I’ll watch it be transformed by the coming storms. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, to me, the scene feels almost ancient and larger than life.
