After a hot, clear day in late July, Annie and I drove out to the P.E.I. National Park to catch the sunset. Our first destination was a bust. The high tide made the beach inaccessible so we ventured down the road to MacNeill’s Brook.
The feeling in the air that evening was mostly gentle. Warm enough but the hints of coolness on the breeze were becoming apparent. The relatively calm water periodically broke out into a vigorous wave that would roll further in than I expected and wet the feet of my tripod.
We had been there about an hour. The sun was about to set and the clouds were gathering around it in a swirl.
To me, this photo captures the edge of the moment — both the tranquility and the underlying currents of disruption lying in plain sight.
