Apples in the morning

I captured this scene at the International Children’s Memorial Place just before 7am on September 11, 2022 after a peachy sunrise.

The memorial was incorporated in 1999 on the grounds of a former provincial park and aims to promote and foster the well-being of people grieving the loss of a child through nature.

The grounds feature trees, gardens, paths, resting spots and memorials around Scales Pond. The pond is the largest artificial millpond on the Dunk River. Early maps show mill on the river in 1798.

The pond was restored over a period of 6 years ending in 2015 after a rapid snow/ice melt tore a hole in the berm in 2009. The International Children’s Memorial Place is beautiful and I’m thankful I got to spend some time there.
